Let's say I was inspired to make a quilt. I'm not there yet, so don't get too excited. But let's imagine. I might very well applique these basket blocks and put them together into a small quilt. Think how much fun that would be!
Shirley sent these adorable baskets to me to help keep me occupied (and probably motivate me) while I am recovering. What a sweet gesture! She prepped all the blocks for me - even basted the baskets onto the background squares to make it that much easier. I am amazed at the work she put into them. Sorry, friends, but I have never done anything like this for ANYONE, so you know just how much it means to me. Thanks so much, Shirley!
Let's say I wanted to pick up another quick project. I might take these 1 1/4" strips that I cut a few months ago . . .
. . . and combine them with these squares to make some simple scrappy blocks.
I have the idea for the quilt in my head, and know the prints I want to use, just do not have the energy to actually follow through. But someday soon perhaps . . . right after I get back to making progress on my daughter's quilt.
Looks like the wheels are definitely starting to turn, doesn't it?

From the sounds of things, I predict that your next post will contain a little stitching news. I'm glad that the wheels are turning again!
It does sound like you are making good progress. Now just rest and dream until you feel good enough to pick up the needle and thread!
Sounds like you have the beginnings of some new projects forming. Just keep getting stronger and they will become reality soon.
"Wheels turning" is a very good sign!
love baskets. it seems you're back again.
What keeps suprising me is thay nearly every fabric I see, is a fabric I have in my shop.
I am even making these baskets! What a way to recover...

OH?! OH?! What's that? I do believe Miss Kathleen is gettin' a little of her quiltin' mojo back! Even talking is better than NOTHING...you go, girl!
Those basket blocks are adorable. I love that pattern. That was so nice of Shirley to make those up for you.
I'm not sick and I haven't had surgery, but I haven't been in the mood to sew or make a quilt for quite some time. The wheels are always spinning in my head and I have some ideas, but just can't seem to put them to use right now.
Take care and enjoy a little R&R for a while longer. Pretty soon you will feel up to sewing and then you won't be able to stop.
What a lovely and thoughtful gift!! Applique, all ready to stitch with no prep is a dream come true :0)
What a wonderful gift. Can't wait to see what you come up with.
When I saw what Shirley did for you I was touched and then I thought of Psalm 23...."Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life." Maybe for you it would say.....Shirley goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life. What a blessing Shirley is!!
Lovely!

Love those charming basket blocks! I just discovered that your "American Doll Quilts" book has evidently been reprinted. I ordered a new copy from Amazon for $17.21. I can't wait to get it!
Those little basket blocks are beautiful. We both really enjoy working with very small blocks and miniature quilts - we all start with 12 1/2" squares, and now they seem so cumbersome! Jacky and Steph x
The baskets are very cute - hope you don't resist for long as I'd love to see them all together! No pressure though! :)!!
