Small & Scrappy Book Giveaway

Can you stand yet another post about my new book? How about if it involves a free copy? This week I'm giving away a signed copy of the book -

I know some of you may have already bought a copy but, if you win, give it away to a needy friend.

To enter your name, leave me a comment here telling me what you would like to see in my next book (not sure there will even BE a next one but what the heck . . . I'd still like to hear). Also, please leave an e-mail address or way for me to contact you.

I'll announce the winner on Sunday.

Good luck!

Bonjour

I've been on a quilting diet, but your new book looks too good to resist. It seems to be packed with such great small projects, which fits with my attention span these days!

I just love what you do. Maybe using leftover strips from jelly rolls. It doesn't really matter. I'd add it to my library anyway! Thank you!

Would love to win this book. I just started making small quilts, and have found that they are fun and will fit in about any place in my home.

Thank you Kathy for a chance to win your beautiful book.

What I would like to see in your next book would be some larger quilts or directions to make your quilts larger even if it's just for a few of them. I live in a small house and don't have the space to display smaller quilts. I just love your designs and your choice of fabric colors but I certainly can utilize larger quilts. Thank you again.

I just got my new copy of your book about 15 Min. ago. I love it. Would love to win another for someone special. I would love to see some sort of pattern that is suitable as a memory gift for someone special. I have looked on line and havent seen any such item. I know when someone dies you get many flowers and statues and such which are very nice but a memory gift with maybe some
embroidery would feel so much more personal don't you think?

Would love to win a copy of your new book Kathleen! Hard to think of a new idea for the next book. You always come up with such great designs. I say more of the same, please!

I have enjoyed your other books, but do not have your new book yet. Wondering if you had considered doing a book with just two-colored quilts such as red and white or blue and white quilts. I like the historical storyline in your quilt books, such as in the Civil War and Adelia. ~Christine

This book looks wonderful! For another book the addition of appliqué would also be wonderful, but I'm thinking you have a wonderful sense of style and you should go with it and it will be amazing.

How about a book with seasonal quilts, or a book with one quilt block for each month?

jane nj/wi said...

OK I have this figured out.....I will get book sooner or later but not before I have the condo storage under control. Most quilting gear is in Wisc. But some I know is here is missing in condo proper....including the duplicate books I bought of your wonderful series...yes I think of them as on ongoing series.

But now Sue B said she would sign her quilt picture and regift to someone.....The Bears are excited....this is their entry they think. So this post is my entry. Wonder if Sue would autograph to The Bears is she won. I am not sharing. If I win it is mine....mine mine..... :0)

Jane Modjeski

I have gone and looked at all the quilts at your publishers page....this is a real keeper.....if my frazzled brain boobooed and I entered twice....remember one was The Bears....

I too have all your books, including your newest. I like the fact that you focus on making small/doll quilts using reproduction fabrics. They transport you to a simpler time, prairie-like feel that I gravitate to.
Keep up the good work.

I love your books! I would like a book with more doll quilts with a connection to the past. I would like to give the book to our quilt guild. This year for Quilt Day we are making doll quilts which we give to the local groups to give to children in need. Doll quilts are one of my favorite things to make as they can be finished in a short amount of time! Kay kay_james@ymail.com

I prefer little quilts to big ones in general -- the littles give me a sense of accomplishment that I have to wait much longer for the bigs to provide! I like the idea of basing a new quilt pattern on an heirloom, using reproduction fabrics.

Hi Kathy,
I have all 5 of your books and love each one! If I should be fortunate enough to win the drawing for a copy of "Small and Scrappy", I will send it to my daughter in NC who has 3 adult sons. She has had no sisters, no female cousins, no daughters, BUT NOW, she has 2 granddaughters; ages 3 and one not quilt 1 month old. Woohoo, she is over the hill with these little girls! She has made quite a few big quilts and baby quilts (gifts) but NOW, she can start on doll quilts for her granddaughters!
What would I suggest in your next book? More of the same like what you have included in all your books thus far. "Small and Scrappy" is a great example!
I like your tips such as how to quilt a pattern, your advice on "Fabric Tips and Tricks", building a stash and the historical information you've included with the patterns in some of your previous books. Your pattern instructions are very clear and easy to follow, keep it up. I'd like advice on choosing fabrics with hints on what makes a quilt stand out and what to avoid so not to have a quilt - one that is too drab, dull, blah, just doesn't make your heart sing. Your dear Mom sure did good when she bought you those "largest boxes of crayons" she could find at the beginning of each school year. Your color choices are always so great!
As for the suggestions of including throw or bed sized quilts in your books, forget it. I think there is more of a market for your small quilts. There are enough of those "larger quilt" books out there, and the larger sizes just don't go with what you are about - you are "Small and Scrappy"! Stick with what you know works. The success of your books proves this point. Keep up the good work and thank you for sharing your talents with all of us! God bless!!!!
Carol in Mid-Mich cgar88@ameritech.net (and Bad Dog too.."arf"!)

I love some new miniature projects.

I'd enjoy seeing small quilts on dolls laps, draped like lap blankets on them.
I'd love to see garden scenes full of pretty tiny quilts, over fence rails, clothes pinned to a trellis, & matching blossoms along the garden paths.
I'd love to see tiny quilts lying on old church window sills with th lights of stain glass shimmering on them, high lighting the piecing, patterns and colors.

I'd enjoy a long hallway with polished floors, and tiny quilts hung like artwork in a gallery.

Have 3 of your books and I love them all! Maybe a book of minis showing a Civil War repro version and a modern fabric version would be neat.
