When I was a kid, I used to get a lot of colds and always had trouble with bronchitis in the winter and so my mother, bless her heart, would keep me inside when it snowed because she thought it would keep me from getting sick. I remember spending much of my childhood winters with my nose pressed against the window, watching the other children play outside while I nursed a cold. Over the years I guess I built up my immune system and so now I can go out and walk in it any time I like! Which is a good thing since I have dogs . . .
I'm not the only one who loves being out in the snow. . .
Or at least being out and then coming in . . . and going out and coming in again, all day long.
I also love the cozy feeling of being inside, warm, when it's freezing outside. One of my sisters hates winter (actually all of them do, come to think of it) but I never see her wear a scarf, hat or gloves. And she never has boots on. Of course her feet get wet and she's always cold, duh. If you dress for it, it isn't so bad . . . honest.
Remember to make sure your feeders are filled!
It's also so much fun to stay inside and quilt in the winter when it gets too cold. (I said I loved SNOW, not the cold). This year I'm making some little gifts for people and if most of them did not read my blog, I'd show you. I have to keep the surprises surprising.
This fabric reminded me of poinsettias and will look cute paired with reds and greens, don't you think? I liked it so much, I bought it twice, at 2 different shops, on two separate days, without realizing it. That's pretty dumb, isn't it? Someone has too much fabric . . . But at least now I'll be sure to have enough, LOL. I need a good snow day to calm down and think about things.
I'm looking forward to the next snowfall. So please don't hate me for loving snow or call me that crazy lady if you see me out walking in it at night wearing my fuzzy mittens and sloppy snow boots while it's coming down, LOL. I'm just reliving the childhood fun I missed . . .

Well, you would love it here, 40 inches and still falling. The kids are loving it and I am happy for them. I am keeping the birds happy with seed. Now, if I could just get some sewing done I would be happy too.
Snow! well it looks fabulous, here in North Island of New Zealand we are nearly in a drought, that snow looks so lovely. We have hot dry Christmas'.Isn't the world of the internet wonderful when you can share seasons...even if it is only to see them.
I could not agree with you more! The world feels and sounds so different when it has snowed. All those muffled noises and it is so much lighter at night. We were lucky to have our first snowfall as well in the Netherlands (or at I least I think we were lucky) most people disagree with me. Not as much as you got, but still it was white for some days and there might fall some more tonight! You enjoy your snow and let other think what they want!
I, too, love the way the world looks when it is covered in snow. I must say I do NOT like the cold, though. :P
:) Linda
I agree, I love the snow, especially at the holidays. However, I don't have to live in it all the time! Fun to visit and play in and then back home.
I LOVE snow too! The last two posts on my blog is about the snow. It is now melting, but we expect some more next week, and cannot wait to see it. This weekend we have xmas-party's; very famous at quilt it & dotty. We are ready for the festive season!!!
I love it too and I'm a little sad today because ours is melting:( Enjoy!!!
I feel the same way about snow and cold temps - just be prepared and it is fine.
It sure makes the season too!♥
I'm with you! I adore the snow and get so tired of hearing people complain about it! We got rain a couple days ago and it melted all the snow we'd received so far, so I'm hoping for more to fall real soon!
Amen to that!
The snow is ok - it's the frigid cold I cannot stand! The best thing I like about winter - hibernating inside in my sewing dungeon!
I know exactly how you feel about the snow, I LOVE LOVE LOVE snow, when we lived in WA. state it would start snowing and I would immediately bundle up and head outside for a walk in the woods. It is so quiet and beautiful, everyone needs to experience what nature has to offer in the winter.. Now that I live in Fl, there surely won't be any snow......DRATS!! :0(
Kathy, I love the snow, too, and going out in it -good thing, we live in central Alberta, on the prairies!! We often get snow in October and it stays until April, and we can get snow pretty much every month. Like you said, you can layer and dress for it. I don't like the heat - there's only so much you can take off! LOL Driving can be a bit of a challenge in winter, but with good snow tires (and 4x4!), I can go nearly everywhere.
Thanks for the cute pics of your dogs!

We are expecting a lot of snow in Michigan too. We usually get what you get a few hours later. I'm NOT a snow or cold girl. I've lived in Michigan my whole life and still not a fan. I'm sure I was a Southern girl in my former life! LOL! Enjoy!
I love how snow looks but would rather that we get a limited amount at a time so that the roads can be cleared. I do love to walk in the snow at night when it is so quiet. Maybe I'll make a snow angel when it snows again.
I agree with you, I love snow too! But I hate it that my daughter has to go on her bike to school through it!
I can´t bring her, have to use the car to bring the other kids...
Love your snowy pictures! It just was snowing overhere with big snowflakes!! :))
Enjoy the snow and those lovely fabrics! It's always great to make presents for the ones you love!
Enjoy!!
Cute fabric; what line is it? You're so lucky to have snow!
I grew up in the Chicago area and remember we would be so happy whenever it snowed! The last year that we lived there was 1978 and there was a record snowfall that year - about 75 inches. We had 3 young boys in a 2 bedroom apartment and there was still snow on the ground in June! I still love snow, though we don't get very much here in Texas. BTW, I made some of your housewife needle cases & will send you a picture.
Lucky you to have snow!! We only get snow about once every 7 years - and that's if we are lucky!! Thank you so very much for sharing all of your wonderful pictures with us!!
I really love winter. I'm just a little southwest of Joliet. The first snow I woke up to the other day, I said to my DH "It's so pretty" he said "It's depressing". I have always been a winter person. It's been a little too cold for me, but I love the snow and 30 degrees. Your pictures are great and the dogs look so happy. Have a wonderful Holiday. Connie204
I like the snow so mucht, here in Holland the last weaks there was a lot of snow, so nice! I receive your last pattern from the doll club Kathleen, is it really the last pattern.....so sorry!
warm greetings, Jeannet
I love to walk in the snow especially when it is snowing. I grew up in Chicago and now live in Florida. It has been so cold here that I feel the only thing missing is the snow. I hope to move back North and everyone says but the snow and cold. I can't stand the summers here and miss every season up North. Thanks for pictures, etc. I get homesick every time I see them.
Nancy, we'll all be here, waiting for you!
Karen, the fabric is by Brannock & Patek for Moda.
Kathy I have to agree. All my friends think I am nuts, but love that snow. It has snowed almost everyday this week and we have about 4", but I want a big one. I just love being snowed in. It drives DH crazy and off he goes 4 wheeling. Pretty sad when your 71 years young.

Thank you for your photos, love looking at the snow, I have never experienced livign with white winters, I would like to try it once. However it is a 12 hour drive to the snowfields from where I live and they only get snow for around 3-4 months of the year, so even getting to visit snow is difficult. We are just getting over lots of unseasonal rain, which has been great for the garden, but expecting 35C (hot, hot hot!) on Tuesday, so when I am melting I will look at your snow pictures! Happy quilting Sue SA.
