Yes, it's finally spring. My favorite flowers are always the wild ones.
Wild geranium
While some gardeners consider them weeds, in my little woodland garden the lowly May violet and its heart-shaped leaves are welcome guests.

Bleeding heart
The back of the yard has been flooded for almost 2 weeks from all the rain we've had.
After a very slow start, the lilacs are blooming again. That's three years in a row now.
Makes me feel like doing some applique . . .
Maybe I will.

What a delightful post about wildflowers, definitely NOT weeds! It's been raining and very chilly here so I'm trying to be patient and hope the sun is somewhere up there. Thank you for sharing your beautiful plants....and one furry companion!
Ohhh i agree i love those sweet wild flowers, and those gorgeous bleeding hearts.. so beautiful! The lilacs take me back to my mother's garden.. i can still smell their sweet perfume.
Puppy looks happy to be out and about :))
How lovely that you've been inspired to do a little applique. I've just finished a project which included wool applique, it was so much fun.
By all means...some floral applique is just the thing!
Love seeing all the wild flowers, your precious dog and the inspiring appliqué! How funny that you all have too much rain and in East Tennessee, we are way below average. Gotta love it all! Always enjoy reading your posts.
Glad you are feeling better. Thanks for the pictures. Spring is finally getting to Rochester, NY. I love violets & bleeding hearts.
Well at least my doggie got outside. I have the Violet's and geranium and daffodils that survived my digging the no bloomers out and pitching into the woods. Hahaha they bloomed this spring. Lilacs at least a month more if they cooperate. This is year 8 with three years blooming. Bought weenie ones from Vermont mail order. My lilies are surging. Maybe by late June first flush. Many are reblooming. Bushes hit hard to little snow. Think next year us the year of relandscape .
This is such a sweet and joyful post, Kathleen. I love your little wild flowers and Lilacs are one of my most favorite flowers...brings back memories of my childhood.
What a wonderful, lovely post. Love, love your sweet little dog also enjoying the spring greenery.
Your wild garden is absolutely lovely. Thank you for sharing.
Yes, finally getting Spring! I also love wildflowers, lilacs and bleeding hearts. These all remind me of my Grandmother, especially the bleeding hearts.
When I first seen your post, I thought you were sharing pictures from a walk, which I guess it kind of is, just from your yard. We've had some water sitting in our yard too...ugh
Applique is a good thing:)
Love your garden! Your applique flowers are pretty as well!
Love the flowers, thanks for sharing!
Enjoyed my virtual walk with you and the pretty little quilts, too! I agree that May violets are way too pretty to weed out. I hope you are feeling less overwhelmed.
