And the Winner Is . . .

(Drum roll please . . .) Congratulations to  Kathy from Fairfield, TX   for winning my American Doll Quilts book giveaway!

Thanks for all of your wonderful comments - Honestly, I wish I had 200 (or even better, 2000) books to give away to all of you.

Runners up: So many of your comments made me laugh that I couldn't just pick a few to receive fabric so I decided to use the Random Number Generator again (AKA my husband and his random number function in Excel)  to come up with 3 winners of the fabric bundles:

*   Delphine from France
*   Red Rover
*   Rita in NJ

I promise they won't be "ugly squares."

Please e-mail your addresses to me at kathyktracy@comcast.net. I'll be away this weekend (Woodstock  Retreat!) and will get the packages out in the mail early next week.

This sure was fun and the response was great. Wonder what I'll give away next . . . .

Congratulations to the lucky winners!!!! Right at this moment as I gaze wistfully at the library's copy of American Doll Quilts (due back soon, boo-hoo), I'm wondering if there are any plans in the works for a 2nd printing. Sigh. I'm particularly in love with the Civil War 9-patch on page on page 43. (But actually, I love them all). Right now I 'm piecing my own Log Cabin quilt, inspired by the example featured in Prairie Children and Their Quilts, another of your books I've yet to acquire. Not only am I inspired by the simple, scrappy quilt patterns, it's Kathleen's awesome instinct for fabric choice that gets my creative juices flowing. Thank you, Kathleen! Just recently I was gifted with a huge box of fabric from my mother (who's in her 80s) that has scraps from things she made for me and herself back in the 50s and 60s, as well as scraps from the 30s and 40s from her mother, including scraps from dresses that Grandma made for my mom. What a treasure! Even though my favorite fabrics are Civil War reproductions, I do love so many of the fabrics mom chose for me and herself way back when. So now as I'm piecing my bed-size log cabin quilt, my mind is exploring how I want to put together my multi-generation quilt of Dodson women's sewing. Thanks again Kathleen for sharing your lovely quilts! Susanne

American Doll Quilts was reprinted at least 4 times over the years but no more for the future. Too expensive for the publisher to reprint an old book that would probably not sell very many copies now. Quilters want to buy new books, not old ones.

Gosh, I guess I should have entered the contest. Ah, but I have so many books. Maybe I should host a contest to make space for some new ones!! That's a thought.
