Vintage Sewing Machine Base

Remember that vintage sewing machine I showed you a couple of weeks ago that needed a base? Well, I finally found one and I'm extremely happy with it. My machine fits inside the box perfectly. Workmanship is excellent. Cherry wood. It's exactly what I was looking for. It even has a little compartment for storage.  I bought it on Etsy from this guy.  Don't you love it??

Love the engraved Singer logo.

I bought a 1/4" foot for my OTHER vintage machine recently and I expect it will fit this one as well. So I'm all set now.

Of the two, I love this little baby best.

Okay, so now I have two vintage machines. That's it. I have a tiny sewing space and hardly any room at all so I am NOT starting a collection, I am NOT starting a collection . . . .

Enjoy the weekend.

you sound like me " I am not starting a collection - really I'm not" I have a featherweight and a Red Eye -- that's it but now every time I see a reasonable price antique I'm looking it over and I want it!! I can't have it, I too have to be reasonable!

Oh, you are doomed! Hee Hee, I started with a Singer 221, then two 201s (one was on Freecycle), 128K (by accident!) then of course, I had to get a 222K Featherweight. I did get a white 221 but that was for my sister to give to her daughter (did nearly keep that one but it was Xmas!) At the moment I am feeding my collecting bug with finding different attachments for these wonderful old machines. In my defence I do use these machines regularly. Love your base, its beautifully done.

Lovely Singers! Are you bring one to your retreat? Can't help but notice that beautiful quilt with fan quilting - that's also lovely.

Something that I said to myself. I was going to use them - since then 2 treadles later and a couple of German ladies, a mother of pearl old girl plus other hand cranks - I then bought a featherweight. I gave my old electric Janome to my neighbour and as we were moving house my husband brought a machine down from the attic - it was thought to be my mum's electric Singer - but it was a Necchi and nobody in my family had one of those! So she is coming with us to the new house. All in all there are 11 but I haven't got a longarm yet!!!! I blame not buying more fabric for this slight hiccup!

That is a nice looking machine; in fact, both of them are. Since I don't have a featherweight, you go ahead and love the case; I'll just love the quilt it is sitting on. Okay? ---"Love"

Famous last words. I said that too after the Featherweight and treadle purchase. But then I was given another Featherweight (“if I wanted it I could come and get it.”) and I came across a Singer hand crank for $10.00 and...well, you get the picture. I own 7 vintage machines now plus my three modern ones. I have stopped though...but the vintage are made so well...Good luck!

The base is a beautiful piece of workmanship--probably made by the husband of a wife who said "I'm not starting a collection."

I started small, too. Now I have over 70 machines, almost all of them vintage (and used most of the time). Enjoy your pretty machines.

Kathy, beautiful base for the beautiful machine. Your Featherweight is adorable. Wonder what your next vintage/antique will be, beautiful or adorable, hehehe.

I have 13 vintage Singers. Only two are the same model. Also have a fairly new Janome.
Several of the older ones people gave me. They all work and I enjoy using them and noting the differences.

Collecting sewing machines is a fun hobby. Unfortunately, they require more space than a fountain pen collection. When asked how many sewing machines that I own, I tell them "More than ten. Several years ago I began to count my sewing machines. I reached a number more than I wanted to know so I stopped counting.

Now where have I heard that before? Famous last words... What a sweet find on both counts, the machine and the base.
