Sew along with me and my Small Quilt Talk friends (Yahoo group, see sidebar for link to join) this month. We're making the Underground Railroad quilt from my first book American Doll Quilts (yes, it's an oldie, but a goodie nonetheless). I know quite a few of you have this book but have never made this quilt. Here's your chance. If you have the book, follow along with the pattern beginning on page 40.
If you don't have the book, you can buy it here or here. Martingale & Co. also has a nice e-book version available for purchase here. Just download it to your computer or tablet and you're all set.
So many cute, little, traditional quilts in this book. It's a classic.
Go grab some scraps and have fun with this one. Choose butternut and blue for your color scheme as I did or another one more to your liking. It's one of my all-time small favorites as well as one of the first quilts I ever made. Hope it becomes one of your favorites too.

Such a pretty quilt and not so intimidating as to be discouraging, too. Perfect for me!
I bought this book quite a few years ago and not many people were using their scraps to make little quilts. Then things started to happen in a big way, and (thanks to you) everyone wanted to make little quilts using the fabulous Civil War fabrics. So glad I bought this book when I did because I've made quite a few quilts from it, although not the one you are making this month, so it is first up on my April to do list. Thanks for bringing awareness to these special little "vintage" quilts. I love all your books and patterns, they are all so much fun to make. I hope you are secretly working on a new book, I'll be first in line to purchase it.
Thanks for the kind words - I kmow you've been a fan for a long time and I appreciate it. It's really all of you and your support that keeps me going at this sometimes.
Looking forward to making my Underground Railroad quilt. One I haven't made yet, anxious to see others interpretation from your SQT group as well. I too, hope you are secretly working on a new book and I will be #2 in line to purchase it:))
