Hot Summer Fabric Giveaway

Wow! It's HOT here. But there's good news. Today and through the coming weekend 15 of you will have a chance to win a charm pack of Andover fabric designed by Renee Nanneman - from her "Linen Closet" collection - that I used to make this sweet summery pillow. (Along with some pink and brown prints from her "Villageware Toile" collection that just came out.) This should cool you off a little.

If it weren't so darned hot I'd be out here lounging on my pillow, sipping an iced tea . . .

Linen Closet fabrics.

Just looking at these light and airy prints almost makes me feel cool in this heat wave we're having here  . . .

All you have to do is follow the instructions below and leave me a comment to enter. There will be 15 charm packs given away in all. Make sure you leave your name and a way I can contact you if you win.

Okay, in keeping with the theme of this fabric, here's the trick to winning - tell me what's in YOUR linen closet that doesn't belong there, something that isn't exactly like linens or isn't even close. If your closet is anything like mine, it needs cleaning out terribly but you're waiting for some of those cute wicker baskets or shelf dividers you see in magazine linen closets to be on sale before you take everything out and get it organized once and for all. And buy some new sheets and towels too.  Maybe this August. Do they still have the August White Sales??

If what you keep in your linen closet is your darkest secret, I promise I won't tell a soul. You can trust me! I am not prepared to show you a photo of my linen closet right now but I can tell you it probably contains some things I either just can't bear to part with or had no other place to throw them. Not linens.

 .
Don't you love the bees?

So leave me a comment here - see instructions above - and your name will be entered into the giveaway. If you left a comment yesterday or the day before on the other post I wrote, it will not count - to have a chance to win, you have to post your comment on the giveaway post that's dated July 18. Comments will close sometime on Sunday and I will announce the 15 winners on Monday. Make sure you leave your name and a way for me to contact you if you win. Good luck!

I know that Andover Fabrics would love it if you visited their Facebook page and thanked them for the chance to win some of this wonderful fabric. (Tell them you like the free pillow pattern too!)  Oh, yes, you can download the free pattern for the pillow here.

My linen closet has to double as my medicine cabinet so two shelves have all the things you would find in a bathroom cabinet, from toothpaste and toothbrush to comb and brush and beyond.

Besides sheets, towels, blankets, and quilts, I have a few bottles of bubble bath because the linen closet is in the only bathroom that has a bathtub.

Hi Kathy... this is kind of a funny question. Up until Wednesday of this week I thought my linen closet has mostly linens and first aid supplies and lotions, etc. Well, my daughter told me she'd like to learn punch needle and I knew that I had an extra punch needle and needle threader some where in my craft room. I searched it high and low and never found it. Then Wednesday I was looking to make room for my sun block and found a small shoe box on the shelf towards the back...it had the punch needle and needle threader in it! LOL! You can reach me at char5@centurytel.net Thanks for the give away - love the bees!

There's more than linens in my linen closet. I think I have a bit of everyting in there, bandaids, shampoo, lotions, soap, space bags, suntan lotion, cosmetic bags for traveling and a ton of travel size containers for shampoos, tooth brushes ets. There is a whole shelf for electric curlers, flat irons, curling irons and hair dryers. I tell you when the last time anything but the hair dryer was used. After sitting here thinking what's in my linen closet I think it might need a good cleaning. I do of course have linen in it. My favorite things from my husbands grandmother. Just old table cloths (vintage now) but I love to get them out and use them. Happy Quilting to all!

My linen closet is storing two very special blankets. One belonged to my husband before we met. It's a loose-weave blanket made of man-made fibers. It's plaid, woven with shades of greens and blues. When I married my husband, I had a parrot. I appropriated the blanket to cover our bird's cage each night while he slept. Our parrot loved that blanket. After we had kids, our parrot would get upset if one of them used the blanket to cover themselves up while lying on the sofa. Our sweet parrot died in late 2009. We were lucky to spend almost 29 years with him, and that blanket will always be his. I anticipate a battle over that blanket after my husband and I are no longer living.

The other is a baby blanket my mother bought for my son when he was an infant. It's a very, very loosely woven cotton in blue, yellow, and pink. I have repaired it more times than I can count. My son became very attached to the blanket after my mom died when he was just barely five years old. I wondered what he might do when it came time to move into a dorm room at college. While I was making his bed at the dorm, I felt something lumpy in the bottom of his pillow in its pillowcase. I slipped my hand in the pillowcase and knew at once that he'd stuffed the blanket beneath his pillow. I had to bite my tongue to keep from breaking down in tears. I might not own many fine linen items, but those two blankets are a wealth of emotional treasures.

Love, love the fabrics in the pillow-thanks for the chance to win. Beside my linens, that closet houses items I pick up for gifts so I have something on hand for special occasions-and my Peggy Carr plates. (There may be some fabric in there also)

Love the fabrics! I would love to win them. Stashed in my closet are boxes of extra dishes, outside flags not in use and extra stash of bathroom essentials. Pretty boring.

I don't really have a linen closet ... since we live in a 5th wheel RV, there's *nothing* dedicated to linens -- I can't afford the space! In the three cabinets in the master bathroom I keep towels under the sink, dishtowels, washcloths, and rags in on one shelf, and toiletries on another, cleaning supplies on the third, and the trash can at the bottom! LOL! Spare sheets go on the shelf over the washer/dryer combo! :)

In my linen closet are sheets, towels, blankets, pillows, quilts, and one broken glass door knob. But I am copying the idea of keeping candy there because it is one place my husband would never look. Ha!

I love the pillow and the fabric and I love that I have been introduced to your blog. My linen closet has many of the items already mentioned here, minus the cat. Mine often times has a little rescue dog named Romeo in it. starsapphire54@gmail.com

In my first linen closet I have children's toys next to my kitchen linens on one shelf and cookbooks on the bottom shelf. In my second linen closet I keep medicine on one shelf and in the very bottom, I keep my rolling travel cosmetics case, a fan and my spa pedicure tub. I REALLY need to reorganize after reading this! judysbluequilts@yahoo.com

My linen closet is almost the only place where I put up my things organised. So there's linen from long ago, when we married. (1968)
The only thing that's no realy linen is a lace and bead made necklace. I wat to lie it flat, so it's on my pillow sheets. Don't think I'm organised fot every other closet is far more messy.
Greetings, Joke

my linens in my linen closet are nice and neat, but if you look behind them, at the back of the closet, you'll find my porcelain bunnies that I take out at Easter and my really fragile Christmas ornaments - just seemed like a safe place to store them! Love Rene's fabrics and the bee fabric is wonderful. Thank you for the chance to win some Linen Closet fabric!

I so wish I had a formal linen closet. We have very little storage space so my linen closet holds everything from linens to toothpaste. It is an all purpose closet. When I saw the pillow it made me think of my godmother who lives on the Cape. I would love to make one for her, she has the most beautiful outdoor, screened area. Thanks for the chance to win.

Not sure if this is closed yet or not, but here is what is in my linen closet that should not be there. I have a large collection of hatpins in cute containers, however I got two kittens a couple of years ago and they seem to think they needed to play with the hat pins. Being afraid they could do harm to themselves, I elected to store the hatpins away. One day, I just need to get rid of the hatpins since the cats are here to stay.

My linen closet has the covered hole in its ceiling where you get to the attic! It also has baby blankets (my baby is 34 yrs. old!), my pressure cooker that won't fit in my kitchen, and my tote of calligraphy tools and materials that I haven't used in quite a few years. And it needs to be cleaned out and many things replaced - some items we got for our wedding gifts and that was 48 years ago!
The bee fabric just tickles me and makes me smile! So do the others, but especially that one. Great pillow pattern, love it! Judy - mominami@msn.com

Beautiful fabric. My linen closet has many things in it. Old family pictures, first aid kit, a few family games, a toy sewing machine that I am trying to find a spot for and then the things that are suppose to be in a linen closet.

I'm pretty organized - in some areas, and my closets are one of them...wow...what does that mean?! Does a pair of swimming goggles sound kind of silly? Where oh where else would you put them? I LOVE the bees - all of the fabric! It's summery and how I'd love to win it! That would be COOL...or maybe HOT - let's just say, the fabric is HOT and it would be COOL to make it mine. You can find me at csquire@alliancecom.net. Sarah is my name, quilting is my game.

Up on the top shelf of my linen closet are the alphabet building blocks my children played with years ago, and that I have moved from house to house at least 6 times waiting for grandchildren to get them out for.....I'm still waiting!
