Stitcher's Journal

I bought 2 of these journals last year, gave one to a friend and kept one for myself.  There are pages inside to record your quilt projects, fabrics used, etc.

They have them for sale here on amazon.com.

It's so pretty I had to have it but I wasn't sure exactly how I'd use it. I decided it would be too much work to re-record all of my quilts since most of them are recorded in my books anyway. So I thought I'd just use it as a inspiration journal and post photos of quilts I'd love to make someday.

You remember this quilt I just posted last week or so. Except I want to make a small version of it.

I love baskets and this one has been flitting around in my head ever since I saw it on eBay a few years ago. I have to make it someday. Maybe it will make its way into a book in the future??

Anyway, I like keeping track of projects I want to make someday and putting them on paper in a  book is one of the ways I stay organized. I usually just use spiral notebooks for that. Maybe I should also keep track of my unfinished quilts/tops and have a "reminder" list of the ones I want to finish first.

Having photos of them handy in a book like this should be helpful. I'm not promising anything here but you have to admit it's a good idea. We'll see if it works.

I like your idea of using it for projects that need to be finished. I might remember things without having to dig through a box! The book is really pretty.

That's a great idea to use it for keeping track of your ideas -- will there be room to add a picture of the quilts you do finish? I think it would be neat to see them along with the images and notes that inspired them.

What a great way to keep new ideas and quilt photos all together. Even if you never make any of them, it's fun to look back to see what you were thinking at the time.

Your two unfinished quilts are so beautiful. I especially like the border of the basket quilt.

Thank you - that wavy border print is left over from the cover quilt (Orange Peel) from Remembering Adelia. It's very hard to find now. Someone recently spotted it at a quilt shop and was nice enough to send me some yardage.

If I finish one of those quilts maybe I will just take off the unfinished picture and replace it with the finished one.

I too have an inspirational journal but not as pretty. It's just a spiral notebook bought at a pre-school supplies sale. Your's is beautiful. Mine is getting pretty fat. I also add occasional quotes and such.

I love your journal! One of my groups is making quilt journals this month, and although they're mostly covering small notebooks (7 x 9), I'm making mine 8 1/2 x 11 so I can put full size sheets in it. I'm also thinking of doing CQ on the cover, and I love the look of yours. Your two quilts are beautiful, I have a bunch of pinwheels waiting to become another little quilt.

Hi Kathleen, I recently purchased your "Civil War Sewing Circle" book and love it. Thanks for writing it. Glad to hear you're getting your quilting mojo back! It was not a good idea for me to read this post tho' - I've just bought one of the journals and another book over on Amazon!! Hope you keep getting stronger. Try some baby spinach leaves with a slice of smoked salmon and a poached egg for brekky. Good for you and surprisingly filling. Cheers, Meredithe
