We've been having a red, white and blue quilt show on my Small Quilt Lovers Facebook page this weekend. Take a peek if you're a member of the group. If not, join us here for the fun and some pretty pictures -
Have a good Memorial Day weekend and take a moment to remember what the holiday is all about. Let freedom ring.
We're preparing for a family barbeque today. Glad the rain finally stopped after a storm last night. Looks like a sunny day for us. Keep your fingers crossed.
Orzo spinach salad with light balsamic dressing is on the menu. Very yummy - you should try it.
Beautiful quilts!! Love red white and blue quilts!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Memorial Day to you and your family!!

How did your attach Your houses quilt on the heart hanger? I have the same hanger and not sure how to attach a small quilt. I like how yours looks.

Please please share the recipe for the orzo spinach salad. It looks delicious - like your quilts. I already went out and bought the salad dressing haha.

Kathy, it turned out to be a beautiful day here, hope your picnic went well. I never get tired of seeing your beautiful red, white and blue quilts. Just beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a wonderful Memorial Day picnic!
ReplyDeleteAll your RWB quilts are so beautiful!
I'm really enjoying seeing all the RWB eye candy on FB - makes me want to make a few more Americana quilts :))
Yes, I'd like the recipe, too. Panera Bread is a restaurant in our area and sometimes during the summer they have Lemon Orzo Chicken soup and it's delicious. I love the red/white/blue wuilts but never think of them as color combinations prior to the holidays so now I've put them on my list. Thanks.

ReplyDeleteThis has been fun Kathy, but red white and blue are my personal favorites! Could you tell me what the plant with the purple flowers is? So pretty!

What's not to love with R/W/B? And with your beautiful garden too!
ReplyDeleteSpinach orzo salad - Buy a bag of baby spinach. Chop into small pieces. Cook orzo (I use about a third of a box). Add cherry tomatoes or chopped red pepper. Toss with balsamic dressing.
ReplyDeleteInstead of this dressing sometimes I will make my own - 2 T of oil, 1 T of teriyaki sauce, a sprinkle of garlic powder, 1 tsp of vinegar. This gives a nice flavor if you do not like overpowering the salad with dressing. Add a little more if needed since the pasta will soak it up a bit.
Thank you so much!

The purple flowers are Johnson's Blue geranium, one of my favorite garden perennials. Part shade.
ReplyDeleteLove Americana and red, white and blue! Very pretty little quilts!
