A Boring Blog

Sorry, no quilts this time.  It's difficult to blog about something interesting on a regular basis. Or whip up something fun to show you.  You've all seen enough of my Dear Jane blocks, I'm sure.  Still plugging away. So, I fear that my blogging has become a little boring lately. I'm hardly a quilting jet setter, ha ha. Jennifer M. made me feel good recently when she mentioned that she likes to read my blog anyway - even if all I write about is walking my dog! Now there's a fan for you . . . . The question then becomes -  Is a boring blog better than no blog?   I'm not sure.

Well,  this one is for Jennifer and all the rest of you out there who love me even if I'm boring to tears at times.

More photos of a nice peaceful walk I took at yet another conservation area -

Stumbled upon two log cabins in the woods

A few weeks ago, on a cloudy day, I walked around Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.

That's all for now, folks.

  1. Well, I don't think your blog is boring! I enjoy it very much, and appreciate it when you post. It might not seem like a lot to you, but these little snippets into the lives of other quilters means a lot to me. I enjoy cybervisiting places I will never go to, like today, Lake Geneva and the lovely walk you went on at the conservation area. I also enjoy the pictures of your quilting, no matter if you think you are making progress or not!

    Definitely not boring.

  2. You know, if we were conversing in person, we probably would not only talk about quilts. That's the way I feel about blogging. Yes it is hard to keep up with the every fast pace of the quilting world. But we do enjoy seeing other things that you enjoy. I hope people keep reading my blog, even if there are things other than quilts. Recipes, for example :-) I don't have a dog but we travel in an Airstream and sometimes I blog about that.

Keep on blogging! We'll keep on reading.

  3. Boring? Not to me!! I think because you are so knowledgeable about quilts etc you may think your posts are boring but I enjoy every single one. Your photography is a treat to my eyes. Clearly the talent that lets you pull together fabrics for your sewing projects also spills over to picture taking.

  4. chats with an 'old' friend are never boring. I like all that you share. love the pics of your dog walks (I live in Texas where it is dry, brown and boring this time of year, so its fun to get to 'walk' along with you). Becky

  7. I really enjoy reading your blog. Even the most mundane activity is interesting when you view it from the other side of the world! I have the same problem with my blog, lots of slow hand quilting and stitching doesn't always make compelling reading. Looks like a beautiful place for a walk.

  8. I also do not think your blog is boring! I loved your maple leaf block from the last post and am hoping to have some time to make some. I like your sign, No Pain, No Jane. I need to come up with something like that. I've been making the Sarah Morrell quilt for quite a while now and have run out of steam. The blocks are challenging for me. Have a nice weekend and thanks for taking the time to blog!

  9. I also meant to tell you I appreciated your post on cleaning your machine. I clean mine fairly regularly but it was a good reminder to do it a little more often, so thank you!

Just wished it would show up here in Texas. Miss the Mid-West!!

  15. You blog is always an enjoyable read. Quilters have a lot in common so many of us like the same things outside of the quilting world - history, museum exhibits, peaceful walks, recipes, family, furry companions, etc. Thank you for sharing and thank you for the opportunity to meet new friends from all over the world through your groups.

  18. No Kathy not boring at all! I never get tired of seeing your Dear Jane quilt blocks. I haven't started mine yet. You are a great photographer, writer and quilter. I would visit your blog just for photos like those maple leaf blocks and chicken pin cushion! It's OK to blog less frequently. That's why we become followers, so we don't miss a post!

  21. The word boring could never, ever describe your blog, Kathy! You share so much of YOU, your many interests - quilting, gardening, jewelry making, books you're reading, recipes, family, all that makes you YOU. I so enjoy the photos that you share too, I appreciate when you visit a quilt show or a museum, an opportunity for us to visit and see for ourselves and not miss out because we may live too far away. Reading your blog definitely makes my day, I feel like I'm having a visit from a very good friend! Thank you Kathy!!!

  22. Kathy, your blog is never boring! I especially enjoy your blogs about walks and your wonderful photos of nature. I live in a condo with no "green space" and often go back and look at some of your nature photos for that fix!

  23. I miss Chicagoland. All the pictures you post are new. Conservation was a new concept. Started in the 70's as I finished college lost my brains and got married.

Lake Geneva is siectscujar and a close by getaway fur walking, shopping or eating. 4 seasons. Nice.

Your doggie is my highlight and your photography. But. Yes I always have a but. I miss your blue blog. It was clever and lovely.

Blogs are time consuming to start up and keep up on a regular basis. It seems you have fans. You could have a flashback post day. Two friends that blog do this. They are fun.

Isn't it time to start baking? Hehrhe.

Jane who is out if time to just enjoy reading and chores call.

  26. Love reading your blog. It's never boring to me. Your walks make me tired though just thinking about walking that far, but I love all the pictures of the scenery. Keep doing it.

  27. You are not boring! It is the simple joys of every day living that are important in life. Love the Bird Girl and log cabins. Do you get a sense of serenity when you walk outdoors? I do.

  28. Your blog is not boring at all.....just like another commenter said, if you were talking to us in person, you would talk about things other than quilting....your blog is a way of sharing all phases of your life....not just quilting.....all these things allow us to get to know you better!
I love seeing all your little quilts....and your fabric choices are amazing!
I also enjoy following along on your walks! And I loved the post about your sister checking in on you to be sure you were okay, since you had not posted as quickly as she thought you should!!
So I hope you will continue with your blog, at whatever frequency works for you! All of your blog followers need the inspiration you provide...as well as getting to know you better!

I kind of miss your blue blog too but can surely understand why it isn't a priority. That's why I don't blog, I just don't have the time.
Well maybe if I didn't take the time to read yours I would.... NOOOO. I think I would rather spend my time following you. :o)))
