Then made a DJ block with one of my favorite pink prints.
These tiny pieces are killers.
Next, I brought out a small quilt I made awhile ago and started to quilt it. I'm enjoying taking in the pinks mixed with brown. I really love this little quilt. Why do I start these things and then put them down for so long? Don't ask me about the brown border print. Trust me, it's old and you can no longer find it anywhere. I'm hoarding a small strip left over from a larger quilt.
I changed my mind and decided to quilt it using a light brown thread instead of an off-white one.
I didn't always love pink. It sort of grew on me over the years. I'm thinking about making another little quilt and so far have one block finished but I'll see if I can make it work before I post a photo. And then who knows just how far I'll carry this pink thing.
Love your little pink and brown quilt
ReplyDeleteI love your little quilt. I made a pink and brown quilt for my daughter a few years ago. She still has it on her bed :-)
ReplyDeletePink is pretty in your little quilt, but not so much on that house or in that hair.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful! THere's an older pink house near our house, and I just love it! Especially in the spring when all the pink flowers are in bloom.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a pink girl but I must admit to loving those civil war pinks especially the muted ones with tiny prints, yum!!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is darling.. pink & brown always sit nicely together :))) cheers... Marian
I'm more of a red girl, but these fabrics are pretty.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful little quilt, the pinks and browns are lovely and the border fabric looks like a strip of lace. One of the nice things about quiltmaking is that you can use colours that you like, but would not wear. Liz B in England.
ReplyDeletelovely pink. glad you are enjoying your day.

The little quilt is lovely and the border fabric is gorgeous, no wonder you are hoarding it, special…pink and brown are such a lovely combo...
ReplyDeleteLos tonos de rosa que has elegido son nuy bonitos, me parecen muy acertados.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo
Your DJ block looks great! But, I'm really loving that mini quilt you made! The browns and pinks are perfection! I was never a pink person either... until I started quilting and viewed pink in civil war prints... mmmmm...
ReplyDeleteI wonder if that pink kitchen is in that pink house. Too funny!! Love your pink and brown quilt!! Karen/IL.
ReplyDeleteLove those civil war pinks! Your Dear Jane blocks are beautiful, every time I see those blocks I think about doing a Dear Jane. I just have so many things patterns now that I will never get them all done! LOL But I do admire those little blocks. I also love your little heart pincushion:)
ReplyDeleteNothing makes me happier then a pile of reproduction pinks! As I walked out the door to go to work yesterday I picked a double pink scrap off my sewing table and tucked it in my pocket. Just knowing that happy scrap was in my pocket made my work day, a very fine day. Then, I come home and see your photo of pinks on this blog. No guessing what makes us happy :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice pile of pinks! I love pink and brown together and your little quilt is so cute. The border fabric really adds a nice touch. I think I have a piece of that...maybe in blue too? I better go play in my stash!
ReplyDeleteKathleen, do you use a hoop when you hand quilt your small pieces? I cannot seem to quilt without a hoop, but I don't like my results, either. Wondering which way is best?
ReplyDeleteNo, I do not use a hoop. I quilt with a lap desk on top of a pillow. I usually pin baste to keep the layers together but took the pins out for the photo : )
ReplyDeleteGood morning! This is totally off topic, but my eagle eye caught that lovely quilted coaster in the first (?) picture with the perfectly turned corners. How do you do that? My miters always poke out like baby bottle nipples. I would love to make a lovely turned corner like that, sigh...
ReplyDeleteWe have some lovely small florals in whites and pinks that would work well for this . Can't wait to try it with the girls.

I have pink on my mind all the time as it's my favorite color! I love your pink fabrics and the pink and brown quilt. I also noticed the quilted coaster and would love to be able to make something that lovely!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that pink has grown on you! As someone who loves that color, I thoroughly enjoyed your post. Those DJ blocks are wonderful! And I love your little pink and brown quilt. That color combo is a favorite of mine as well. The brown border print is perfect. I remember buying that particular print a long time ago. Somewhere in my fabric stash, I'm sure I still have a yard of it!
ReplyDeletelove that pile of pink scraps at the top - wanted to dive head first into that! haha - i just made those two blocks, too - except mine were in purples! : ) i'm having fun catching up on your blog.
ReplyDeleteYou have such a good eye for color and pink is such a happy color. What girl wouldn't want some of your scraps.

Just found your blog... a little late. The brown border fabric looks familiar, could it be Bits of Blue & Gray from J Rothermel, quite a few years back?
ReplyDeleteLove that pink house! How could you not wake up happy everyday living there?
