Hot Summer Fabric Giveaway

Wow! It's HOT here. But there's good news. Today and through the coming weekend 15 of you will have a chance to win a charm pack of Andover fabric designed by Renee Nanneman - from her "Linen Closet" collection - that I used to make this sweet summery pillow. (Along with some pink and brown prints from her "Villageware Toile" collection that just came out.) This should cool you off a little.

If it weren't so darned hot I'd be out here lounging on my pillow, sipping an iced tea . . .

Linen Closet fabrics.

Just looking at these light and airy prints almost makes me feel cool in this heat wave we're having here  . . .

All you have to do is follow the instructions below and leave me a comment to enter. There will be 15 charm packs given away in all. Make sure you leave your name and a way I can contact you if you win.

Okay, in keeping with the theme of this fabric, here's the trick to winning - tell me what's in YOUR linen closet that doesn't belong there, something that isn't exactly like linens or isn't even close. If your closet is anything like mine, it needs cleaning out terribly but you're waiting for some of those cute wicker baskets or shelf dividers you see in magazine linen closets to be on sale before you take everything out and get it organized once and for all. And buy some new sheets and towels too.  Maybe this August. Do they still have the August White Sales??

If what you keep in your linen closet is your darkest secret, I promise I won't tell a soul. You can trust me! I am not prepared to show you a photo of my linen closet right now but I can tell you it probably contains some things I either just can't bear to part with or had no other place to throw them. Not linens.

 .
Don't you love the bees?

So leave me a comment here - see instructions above - and your name will be entered into the giveaway. If you left a comment yesterday or the day before on the other post I wrote, it will not count - to have a chance to win, you have to post your comment on the giveaway post that's dated July 18. Comments will close sometime on Sunday and I will announce the 15 winners on Monday. Make sure you leave your name and a way for me to contact you if you win. Good luck!

I know that Andover Fabrics would love it if you visited their Facebook page and thanked them for the chance to win some of this wonderful fabric. (Tell them you like the free pillow pattern too!)  Oh, yes, you can download the free pattern for the pillow here.

  3. My linen closet doubles as a partial pantry... there's towels, sheets, dry foods, cookie sheets and yes, even an ice cream maker :) But we're moving in a couple of months, so cross your fingers that I'll be able to separate these things!

  4. I love to keep some candy in my linen closet. It is a nice surprise to see what is in there. I also keep some paperback books for those times when life needs a lift.

  5. Sweet fabrics from a sweet quilter/blogger. This pillow is so pretty. Thanks for the chance for the summer fabric give away! I have been enjoying the Yahoo group and photos as the members complete the little quilts.

In my linen closet is a bunch of canned goods! I swapped out the linen closet to make a pantry. My towels and linens are in the closet of my second daughter's room - she moved out and got married 8 years ago, leaving lots of elbow room for me. What doesn't belong in that closet - mostly old running shoes that should go in the trash - they are not good for anything.

  7. Hy Katleen, first sorry for my english : I'm Italian. Yes. I agree with you : in my closet I have many sheets and towels and every year, in August, I continued to buy, but I have something that is not linen which I do not want to separate. A black lace corset that reminds me of the carefree years past. Ciao Lidia

  25. What a lovely fabric collection! I can think of two things in my linen closet that perhaps might not belong in most. One is the step stool so the Grandsons' can reach the bathroom sink. The little pottie that went with the stool is not longer needed. And the other thing is all my cleaning rags. Last summer I cleaned out the closet and removed all the other "stuff" and it is has stayed very tidy. Thanks for the opportunity to win a little fabric collection. Joanne

  64. Hi Kathy,
Thank you for this lovely giveaway. The minute I saw the bee fabric- I just grinned! Very cute indeed and the other fabrics- totally delicious. I just opened my dreaded linen closet door and found only boring things- like sheets and towels,-all that one would expect. The reason it is orderly is because it is VERY small and so it must be used for the necessities. However, wouldn't it be ideal for my quilting fabrics! I really must put some more thought into that idea. Try not to melt- this is the longest and hottest summer I can remember.

  70. To be honest with you, I'm not exactly sure WHAT is in our large linen closet. I opened the door to put away some towels last week (which is usually a chore for one of the kids), and it looked as though an earthquake had knocked everything to the floor! I don't know how long it's been like that, or what is underneath the pile of blankets, sheets and towels. I did see a case of toilet paper peaking out....but that's an appropriate item to store in this particular closet. I'll be tackling the cleaning next week...not sure if you'll ever hear from me again...haha.

  89. The linen closet fabrics are gorgeous! Thanks for offering this giveaway. My linen closet is a mess and really needs cleaned and reorganized but, for the most part, there are only linens in there. The things I would move are sleeping bags which haven't been used in too many years, some out-of-season clothing that hasn't been taken out in-season for too many years, and well, I guess there are few toys, too, which definitely don't belong there. Huh. Now I feel like I need to go clean my linen closet!

  112. Hi Kathleen, once again a lovely fabric giveaway. So very nice of you.
I grow lots of herbs in my garden so apart from a few towels my linen closet (or airing cupboard as I called it in the old country) is filled with dried herbs. A great place to keep them as it's warm & dark. Makes my towels smell nice too.

  113. Unfortunately, my linen closet contains the oddball vases as well as the seasonal suntan lotions, bug sprays and extra stock of bath soap, shampoo, etc. The towels are in there too, but that is the only fabric so far.

Fantastic fabrics. I love neutrals with a splash of colour. I certainly would love to win a pack of these charming Andover fabrics.

For me your challenge has been inspirational. I opened my linen closet and saw TOO MUCH STUFF!!!! So I've sorted all those towels, sheets, pillowcases and blankets I've not used in years and probably never will use again and bagged the best for charity and the rest for the RSPCA for pet towels and bedding.

Now I have plenty of room for the 48 roll pack of toilet paper that my husband likes to have in reserve just in case. In case of what? A world paper shortage? Will there be a run on toilet paper?

There's also plenty of room for the brand new still in its box foot pump for the air mattress we threw out twelve months ago because it had holes in it. And it hadn't been used in years anyway.

Kathy thank you for spearheading such an enjoyable informative friendly group.

P.S. The comment about the black corset brought back happy memories of the long forgotten old bone lace up corset my mother kept in a box under her bed.

    Cheers
