April's Small Quilt

Look! The quilt we'll be making for April is a free pattern and you can download it here.

I had fun a lot of fun designing this one and hope to get it finished this week. It shouldn't take you very long at all. No excuses!

First, pick out some scraps of fabric, cut  2" x  2" squares and 5" squares and you're almost done. Each block took me about 15 minutes. I'm hoping I can put the rest together this week.

If you don't like blue, or the scrappy look, make it your own. If you don't like those borders on the top and bottom only, make a border all around . . . You'll get quite a different look.

Be creative. I can't wait to see what you come up with. Send me a photo and maybe you'll see it here. Can you believe this is our 4th quilt of the month already?  If you're following along with me and making 12 little quilts this year, you're almost a third of the way there!

  4. This is a cute quilt but I have to say I am a tad disappointed it is so simple of one. So the challenge will be to be very creative with this one! I will look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with.

  14. I love 9 patches! I made a large 9 patch set with 4 patches for a queen bed last year all out of civil war repros and gave it to my brother for his birthday. He just loved it. For the sashing of the quilt, I used a repro of a fabric used for making night shirts and gowns like people used in the 1800's. I can't wait to make this little sweetie just for me. Thanks Kathy!

  17. Lovely! And perfect timing for me. Last Tuesday, I went to a workshop with Froncie Quinn (licensed designer for several museums to make patterns to recreate their antique quilts.) She taught us great tips to do hand piecing.. and, wait for it... we made little (3") nine patches! I love your setting and working on the 4th of 5 blocks. I was wondering how to set them... and here your are with this great setting! Thanks so very much. I found your blog today from link on 'Sew WE Quilt!' and have added it to my favorites! Best wishes for this holiday season. B
