Snow, Finally

Well, we did not get a "Monster Storm" here in Chicago but it was enough to make it finally seem like winter.

As I looked out the window at the snow this morning I noticed some of my feathered friends were waiting patiently for me to fill the bird feeders.

"Where is she?? I don't know why she's late. She's always out here first thing every morning. She usually feeds us before she feeds those annoying dogs."

"She probably hasn't had her coffee yet. Does she know how cold it is? Brrr! Maybe if we just sit here and stare at the back door she'll come out."

As much of a Winter Wonderland as we're going to get. Better enjoy it while we can. Supposed to rain in a day or two.

Snow puppy says "I love this stuff but today is going to be a very good day to stay inside and nap while mom finishes up her quilt for next week's free pattern."

Good luck to all of our friends on the East Coast with that Super snowstorm that's expected to hit today and tomorrow. Hurricane force winds in February?? Yikes.

  1. Não tenho neve aqui, mas acho um lindo cenário.Frio de doer só de ver estes cachorrinhos "descalços".Também alimento pássaros aqui, sem necessidade, pois tem comida farta,os tucanos começaram a chegar.Beijos.

  2. I'm glad someone enjoys the snow. I'm glad all of ours melted off in the rain and warmer temperatures we've had the last couple of days! The puppy sure does look comfy on that pillow.

  3. Snow puppy is adorable. I miss my doggy--she loved the snow, too. We have 4" so far 25 mph winds and I guess the double-trouble storm won't get here until around 7 tonight--we are in the blizzard area. Am sewing now, as I expect power loss tonight...Julierose

  4. Haha, Kathleen, I feed the birds too and they watch me at the kitchen window to see when I'll come out to top off their feeders. And, I'm pretty sure they really do know me. I've had them come down right beside me when I'm filling the feeders. I look forward to seeing them first thing in the morning when I go in the kitchen for tea. I enjoyed your little story about what the birds must be saying about you.

  6. Your pictures are beautiful! I only miss the snow in pictures not the actual cold stuff. Here in Texas I put my strawberry plants back outside and my paper whites are blooming. My two adopted dogs are from cold weather so they may miss a little of it. The mocking birds make sure they get their fill before allowing the doves, cardinals and bluebirds their fill. The Bluejays come later they are just as fiesty as the mocking birds

  10. The snow looks so pretty! Glad you can stay in and snow and just look out. Hope the birds are fed and happy! I'm sure the dogs are having a good ol' time playing in the white stuff.

  13. I love your photos Kathy. It reminds me of my winters back there. I also fed the birds and 1 very pesty squirrel H learned how to hang upside down from the shepards crook and grab hold of the feeder to make sure he got his share!!! You seem to have more snow than we have here in MT>

  14. Love your winter wonderland pics, even though I don't like snow. I live southwest of Chicago and we had inches of rain and a few flurries.

    Thanks for sharing your pics.

  15. Your snow pics made me homesick for snow. I haven't seen it for over 30 years and my children never have. It does snow on the mountains in Australia, but we've never been. Stay warm and keep quilting! It's so warm here we just put the air con on LOL.
