Simple is Good

Making simple little doll quilts refreshes, inspires and soothes me. And I'll bet it does the  same for many of you too. If you're still with me and enjoying making one sweet little doll quilt a month so that you can have a pile of 12 quilts to display at the end of the year, the quilt for June will be very easy and quick. I know everyone gets busy during the summer and so I chose Scrap Squares from my book The Civil War Sewing Circle (you will find the pattern on page 24).

This one will go very fast (I've already made 2!) and then those of you who are so inclined (but a little behind) can easily spend the rest of the month catching up with some of the other quilts we've made this year. Go back to the Archives on this blog (by month) to see the other quilts we've worked on.

So, follow the pattern in the book and pick through your scraps to find your 12 squares, 20 cornerstones and sashing and get to work!

Who doesn't love a pile of small quilts?

Or perhaps several on a clothesline?

You are so right, Kathleen! Making a small project is fun and rewarding!! I've not joined in your small quilt a month, but have so enjoyed seeing what everyone is making! So many wonderful "takes" and colors!! But I may just join you this month! I have some Australian fabric from a swap that I've been wanting to make a small quilt with and I think this is the perfect one!! I have this book and have read it and been inspired by it many times!!

Blessings

Love your designs, colours and patterns! Wish we could get those lovely soft prints and colours more easily in the UK - but, hey, it's a good excuse for coming to the States. The 'following' glitch has cleared - must've just been me - so am now a follower. Looking forward to your next post!

Love all the quilts, once I have finished my bucket list of large quilts (should be done in 12 months) onward to doll quilts. Love them on the clothesline.

I love small quilts--just finished my "Scotties"--so refreshing to not spend a whole year doing a huge quilt--and so much easier to hand quilt a smaller piece, too. How do you make your sleeves for hanging--or d you use another method??? I am gifting this lil' baby to a friend...Julierose

This is one that I have already made and enjoyed very much. Maybe for my second one I will make it a little more planned than the first one I did.
I have been hanging my quilts on my walls around the house so everyone can enjoy them.

Your little quilts are exquisite and simple IS indeed good. Especially when the colors are so pleasing and your design choices so good.

simple is very good and your monthly inspiration has been my salvation during a very difficult time in my life. I'm a month "behind" but now that I am starting to stitch again I'm looking forward to my next little quilt project.
