Think . . . Even Smaller

Now you know I am nuts . . . .

I was feeling a little blah last Friday after visiting the dentist to fix a cracked tooth, ugh. I needed a distraction from the pain and I felt something "quilty" stirring inside - the desperate need to make something, quick. I remembered my ongoing "Daily Creative" promise to myself - try to be a little creative every day. Or at least every day I'm able. It's good for the soul.

I've never made anything this small and it really didn't take me long at all. I couldn't wait to quilt it and bind it. The blocks finish at 1 1/2"  x 1 1/2".  I cut one-inch squares for the nine-patch blocks and 2" squares for the setting pieces. Yes, instructions, just in case you happen to be eager to join my crazy small quilt club I just formed this very moment.

For some reason those blocks in my other challenge quilt were looking too darned big and a little voice told me I should try making a smaller version. (Voices?? Really? Now for sure you'll think I am nuts . . . )

(Post-it added for scale.)

To some of you it may look and act like a mug mat but, no, it's definitely a quilt.

Ahhh, very relaxing and exciting to have another little one finished. They should all be this quick. Too bad I don't have a teeny tiny little bed for it . . .

Wow, those are small blocks, but I'm tempted. Especially since it is such a quick finish and probably very satisfying. I'm feeling overwhelmed today because I have so many things half started, but I think this little quilt could be finished in no time and perhaps get my creative juices flowing again.

Oh Kathy -- I love your itty bitty mini. It's just too cute. I'm having fun but I'm not being terribly successful on getting these quilts done. Or, perhaps, even thought of since the first 2. Sigh.

It's been a super busy month and I haven't even started my 9-patch quilt yet but I think I'm going to do the ultra mini :)

Oh, I love the itsy witsy tiny winy blocks. I have a hug bag full of fabric straps that are not bigger than an inch and a half and go down to three/fours of an inch. Guess I found a new purpose, I knew it would pay off someday to hang on to them. Thanks. Sign me up for the really small quilt club.

A Polly Pocket quilt! I think it's not easy to work with such tiny pieces. And full of charm and beauty like all you create.

Well, I really don't think you are crazy. Right now I have a small roombox staring at me. In there is an empty little 1/12 scale bed in need for a quilt. But I first started to stitch a rug. While thinking about the quilt.

Great and incredible, I'm not able to do something that small so I admire you!!

This was really not that hard to make. It's really just like making a single block and turning it into a quilt.

I suggest you try sewing a few 1-inch squares together into a nine patch VERY SLOWLY, pressing carefully as you go along and if you can do that, that's the hard part. Putting them together with plain squares is easy.

What a neat idea! Ugh, the dentist and a cracked tooth. Sorry, been there done that. I hope that you're feeling better today. Creating a quilt makes the day that much brighter, doesn't it?

Doesn't every quilter have those little voices telling her how to sew -- or am I in trouble here? :-) 1 1/2" blocks? I might have to play with some scraps just to see how tiny those are!

Loves it! I want to play too :-)
